"Are you sure you're okay?" He whispered.
"I'm fine." I assured, knowing that it wasn't
true. My presentation was next. I closed my eyes and tried to build
up my strength to be able to stand in front of the class for my ten
minute speech. "Trowa, if you don't feel you can do this. ."
He was worried about me. I looked up at him and forced a smile to
my lips. "I can handle a little speech." I attempted
to laugh, but it didn't surface. I tried to be strong for him. He
knew this. He understood that I wasn't one to give up easily. In truth
I wasn't sure if I could stand when it came time for me to do as much.
Somehow I managed to make it to the podium safely. Standing was making
me more nausea than sitting. It also increased my dizziness. I started my speech perfectly. It was delivered as I
rehearsed it, however, after the first few lines I started to forget
what I had prepared. When I glanced at my cue cards, I found that
I couldn't read them. I could feel the professor step up next to me.
"I know you've been through a lot lately. If you
can't give your speech right now, I can reschedule you to another
day. Will that be okay?" I could hear his voice, and I tried
to answer, but my body wouldn't cooperate. "Trowa?" I fought
against the sickness. I could feel the beats of sweat forming on my
forehead as my body started to tremble. The next instant, my legs
gave out from weakness as I collapsed. In a heartbeat, Heero was hovering
over me in concern. No, not concern. . .fear. I could see it plainly.
"Trowa, can you hear me?" I only stared into his eyes. I couldn't find my voice. Heero spoke again, but this time he was too far away and muffled for me to understand what he was saying. I closed my eyes and focused on his voice in hopes that it would bring me back, but he stopped talking. I tried reopening my eyes, but they were too heavy. My senses seemed to slow to a stop. I was no longer aware of my surroundings. I couldn't even feel Heero's touch any more. ~ * ~ Chapter
